How.
We.Work.

Spilo Journal is an independent editorial publication exploring everyday food habits, post-meal energy patterns, and afternoon alertness. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body. The standards below govern every article published under the Spilo Journal name.

01 — Founding Principles

The Editorial Framework

Spilo Journal operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

The publication's editorial focus is observational and reportorial. Writers at Spilo Journal document patterns in food habits, eating rhythms, and their relationship to afternoon energy and focus. The approach prioritises documented observation over prescriptive commentary.

Articles published on Spilo Journal are editorial in nature and reflect the writers' observations on everyday food choices and their relationship to afternoon energy and focus. The content is not intended as professional advice, nor as guidance for the engagement with any specific personal routine. Readers with specific concerns about their daily routines are encouraged to speak with a qualified wellness professional.

02 — Publication Process

From Research to Publication

01

Source Identification

Writers identify published nutritional research, peer-reviewed dietary studies, or documented observational data relevant to the article topic. Primary sources are preferred over secondary aggregations.

02

Drafting & Framing

The writer drafts the article within the publication's editorial register: reportorial, observational, and free of prescriptive or marketing-register language. Factual claims are anchored to specific sources.

03

Second-Editor Review

A second editor reads the draft independently. The review examines factual accuracy, source appropriateness, tonal consistency, and absence of unsupported claims. Revisions are requested as needed before any publication date is set.

04

Publication & Record

Approved articles are published with author attribution, publication date, and a reading-time estimate. Corrections or clarifications identified after publication are appended to the original article with a dated note.

03 — Source Standards

Nutrition Research Standards

Content published by Spilo Journal is selected based on published nutritional research and reviewed for editorial accuracy by a second editor before publication. Writers are expected to distinguish between observational studies and controlled research; the editorial register reflects the appropriate degree of confidence for each source type.

Spilo Journal does not commission, endorse, or publish articles whose primary purpose is to promote a commercial product, dietary supplement, or branded food range. Writers who receive products for review purposes are required to declare this at the foot of the relevant article.

Where nutritional data is referenced from a specific published study, the study title, author group, and publication year are cited within the article text. Spilo Journal does not maintain formal academic citation formatting but prioritises reader traceability of source material.

04 — Corrections

Accuracy & Corrections Policy

Factual errors identified in published articles are corrected promptly. Corrections are noted at the foot of the affected article with the date on which the correction was made and a brief description of the change. The original error is not retained in the published text.

Readers who identify factual inaccuracies or outdated references in published articles are encouraged to write to the editorial team at [email protected]. All accuracy correspondence receives a response within five working days. The editorial team assesses each submission and, where a correction is warranted, implements it within two working days of that assessment.

The publication does not retroactively alter article conclusions in response to opinion. Corrections are restricted to demonstrable factual inaccuracies, outdated nutritional data, or attribution errors. Editorial perspective expressed in published pieces remains the view of the named author at the time of writing.

05 — Independence

Editorial Independence

Spilo Journal does not accept payment for editorial coverage. Article selection is the sole prerogative of the editorial team and is guided by reader interest, subject relevance, and the quality of available source material.

Advertising, where present on the publication, is clearly separated from editorial content. Advertisers have no access to article drafts prior to publication and exercise no influence over editorial decisions. Advertising relationships are disclosed in the publication's privacy and terms documents.

Writers contributing to Spilo Journal on a freelance basis are not required to hold any specific credential, but are expected to demonstrate familiarity with the publication's editorial standards and to engage with source material with appropriate rigour. The second-editor review process functions as the primary quality control mechanism for all submitted work.
